A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required; extensive experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
1. Network Architecture and Design: Plan, design, and architect the organization’s network infrastructure to ensure it meets current and future needs. This may include LANs, WANs, data centers, and cloud-based solutions.
2. Network Security: Develop and implement advanced security measures, such as intrusion detection systems, firewalls, and encryption, to safeguard the network against cyber threats and unauthorized access.
3. Advanced Troubleshooting: Tackle complex network issues and troubleshoot problems, including analyzing network traffic and performance issues, and develop innovative solutions to ensure network reliability.
4. Capacity Planning: Assess network capacity requirements, plan for future growth, and allocate resources effectively to accommodate changing network demands.
5. Network Monitoring and Optimization: Continuously monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks or issues, and optimize network resources for maximum efficiency.
6. Backup and Recovery Planning: Develop and maintain data backup and recovery strategies to minimize data loss and ensure data integrity in case of network failures or disasters.
7. Policy Development and Compliance: Develop and enforce network policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to security standards.
8. Network Upgrades and Expansion: Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and expansion projects to meet the changing needs of the organization.
9. Incident Response Planning: Develop and execute incident response plans to address network security breaches and other critical incidents.
10. Training and Knowledge Sharing: Provide training and support to junior administrators and end-users on network-related issues, best practices, and security awareness.
11. Advanced Technical Support: Serve as a subject matter expert, providing advanced technical support for complex network-related issues and collaborating with other IT staff for problem resolution.
12. Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and inventory for future reference and troubleshooting.
13. 24/7 Network Monitoring and On-Call Support: Be available for critical network issue resolution outside of regular working hours when necessary.
Must-have Qualifications
1. Certifications: A comprehensive set of certifications that may include CompTIA 1. Certifications: Industry-leading certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and other advanced networking and security certifications.
2. Extensive Networking Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in network administration, design, and security.
3. Advanced Networking Knowledge: Profound expertise in advanced networking concepts, including routing and switching protocols, network segmentation, and complex network architectures.
4. Network Security Expertise: In-depth knowledge of network security best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and encryption.
5. Complex Troubleshooting Skills: The ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues quickly and efficiently.
6. Network Design Skills: Proficiency in designing and implementing advanced network architectures to meet the organization’s specific needs.
7. Security Policy Development: Experience in developing and implementing network security policies and best practices.
8. Scripting and Automation Proficiency: Mastery of scripting languages like Python or automation tools to streamline network provisioning and management.
9. Documentation Leadership: Exceptional skills in creating and maintaining clear, detailed, and organized network documentation. May also lead the documentation efforts for the team.

1. Vendor Certifications: Advanced certifications specific to network equipment vendors, such as Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or Juniper Networks Certified Internet Expert (JNCIE).
2. Wireless Networking Mastery: Expertise in configuring and optimizing complex wireless networks, including large-scale deployments.
3. Virtual Private Network (VPN) Mastery: Advanced experience in setting up and managing complex VPNs for remote access and site-to-site connectivity.
4. Cloud Networking Expertise: In-depth understanding of cloud networking concepts and extensive experience with cloud service providers like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
5. Load Balancing Proficiency: Mastery of load balancing technologies, content delivery networks (CDNs), and global server load balancing.
6. Voice over IP (VoIP) Knowledge: Proficiency in VoIP systems and protocols for voice and video communication over IP networks.
7. Advanced Network Automation Skills: Leadership in implementing advanced network automation strategies and tools.
8. Project Management Leadership: Leading complex networking projects, including planning, execution, and managing project teams.
9. Vendor and Budget Management: Strong vendor relationship management skills for negotiating contracts and managing budgets for networking projects.
10. Mentoring and Training: Experience in mentoring and training junior staff, transferring knowledge, and ensuring the growth of the team.
